A Statement from S.A.F.E

The members of S.A.F.E. as individuals and as an association deeply regret the turmoil and frustration recent events have brought in to our world, this is counter to everything S.A.F.E. is about. S.A.F.E. was formed by the community with the goal to make it a little more fun for fellow members to engage in the deal and trading activity inworld, making it safer, by acting as middles.

S.A.F.E. would like to apologize for such a delayed response to the community, and the frustration that caused, the plain truth is that this built up so fast and with such intensity that we just were not prepared for it and like the community at large, S.A.F.E. members were divided on how to respond.

S.A.F.E. will not try to make any excuses, there is no excuse or rationalization that will remedy this, out of respect for all views of the members in the nH community, we won't try to pacify the situation with excuses, but we are not ignoring it either, and we hope this starts the process going forward from here.

There are three topics we would like to touch on in this first statement:

The first is that S.A.F.E. does not support or condone racism or bigotry in any form, we actually do not support any ideology. However, we have bylaws that can be used to remove S.A.F.E. members for reasons other than dishonesty and will expand on this later in one of many S.A.F.E. FAQ's to follow this statement.

The second is that S.A.F.E. has never taken an issue as seriously as those in recent events, the participation of S.A.F.E. members in the debate, the vote, and what we think are the first steps to ensure nothing like this can happen again, has been nearly 100% of S.A.F.E. members. Everyone feels that this is a very important issue.

The third topic is that this Statement and the FAQ's to follow are the first in many steps S.A.F.E. is taking to address concerns in the community about S.A.F.E.. One of the things this situation made painfully clear, was that over time, what S.A.F.E. is, how it started, why it runs the way it does, has gone from fairly common knowledge in detail, to at best, scant notions and generalities. That information vacuum was filled ad-hoc when this hit and it is clear how that added to the frustration.

Since it would take a tome to say all of this in one passage, over the next days, weeks, and months the S.A.F.E. Web site will be greatly expanded include a brief history of S.A.F.E., an overview of our bylaws and how they came to be, and some insight in to the "processes" under which S.A.F.E. operates, that is, our governance.

For over 4 years now S.A.F.E. members have served the community in a low profile manner, just being middle-persons for deals, and for the most part you have trusted S.A.F.E. members, which we honor a great deal. With rare exception, this has worked out pretty well, S.A.F.E. members have assisted in countless successful trades, doing just that little bit to help make nH a nicer place to hang out in and do business.

In the following FAQ we have gleaned some high profile questions from nH members directly to S.A.F.E. members inworld, from the Official Forum, and from the UnderGround Forum.

We ask that you consider this statement, give us your input, take a look at our site as we expand it out, watch our actions and changes, and how your feedback is considered and incorporated.

Sincerely yours,
The members of Safe And Friendly Exchange, S.A.F.E.
